The capital of Portugal is the city on Tagus River (which you will also encounter by its local name, Rio Tejo). Measuring 1000 kilometers plus in length, it is the largest river in the Iberian Peninsula. The city of Lisbon was built at its mouth, so the vibrant life of the port has always been part of what makes Lisbon what it is today.
