An easy day trip from Lisbon – Part 2
An easy day trip from Lisbon is easy-peasy when you know where you want to go and what you want to do.
If, however, you don’t yet have a clear idea, fear not: we are here to offer you some of the best ideas there are. Just you wait:
So after you have grown wary of the eclectic life of the city – although it will take a long time before this happens, if you ask me – you can opt for a great city break… outside the city, an easy day trip.
Cascais is located a mere 25 kilometers away from the center of the capital city. There are a lot of things to explore here for a wide variety of tastes and people, as the small town combines the elegance of a princiary center and the rustic traditional air of an old fishing village. Indeed what used to be a small fishing village grew into an important port in the Middle Ages and then a royal residence in the 19th century. Palácio da Cidadela can be admired today.
Another great stop would be at the Museu do Mar-Rei D. Carlos, where you can admire a beautiful collection of boats and pay tribute to the maritime history of the city and the country.
If you feel like taking a stroll, you can do so through the Parque do Marechal Carmona, a great and ever green park – literally!
You can make the most of your experience with a Cascais car rental online to get all the freedom of movement a couple sets of wheels can get you.
Estoril is pretty similar as an experience. It is stylish, posh, but also utterly Portuguese, a beach resort through and through. You will surely love this if you want to sunbathe before going on a fabulous shopping spree.
