An easy day trip from Lisbon – Part 1

Summer will soon be here and Portugal is preparing to open its arms widely to welcome another wave of tourists, many of whom are going to choose the country’s capital city as a destination, so it is only logical to assume that they will be in search of an easy day trip from Lisbon.

The city of Lisbon is fascinating and beautiful and for sure there are a lot of things to see and do here, but there are also other places around town worth visiting.

There are a lot of options when it comes to easy day trips from Lisbon. Located in the central part of the country, Lisbon is very accessible and there are a myriad options of transport, ranging from public transport to Lisbon airport transfers or Lisbon car rental choices to consider.

To me, with the coming summer – and with the sun so “precariously” starting to shine over the plains of Portugal each year – the best option I can think of is that of going to the beach. The beautiful Atlantic Ocean, endless and blue, stretches infinitely close to the city center. Praia da Rainha is some 20 minutes by car away from the city and it’s probably the best beach you can choose.

I for one would definitely enjoy the proximity to the sea and I would definitely go for a little fun in the sun. be careful, though: the water of the ocean is much colder than that of any sea, although I personally welcome the cool and refreshing feel.

Are you interested in seeing one of the coolest UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Portugal? The Batalha Monastery located in the town with the same name lies not far away from Lisbon as well. You can enjoy a day of visiting the town, visiting the site, having a nice lunch in one of the taverns and then continuing to walk around and exercise and have fun outdoors.
